追踪开放源代码浏览器Firefox的Burning Edge网站说，Firefox最严重的安全漏洞可能让黑客接管遭到入侵的电脑，但13日发布的1.5.0.2版已卸载这些弱点。
负责监督Firefox开发计划的Mozilla通过网站宣布，未来两天将把最新程序派送给Firefox 1.5版的用户。
Mozilla工程部副总裁Mike Schroepfer说:“我们把这个版本视为重大的发布，并强烈建议大家尽快更新。这是我们历来发布的更新程序中最稳定的，而且采用最新型的工具与技术，能主动解决各式各样已知的安全、性能和稳定性问题。”
根据Mozilla网站，该公司建议Firefox 1.0的使用者升级到Firefox 1.5.0.2版。去年11月推出的1.5版内含自动更新功能，可协助使用者把系统维持在最新的状态。
截至周四下午为止，Mozilla尚未公布有关Firefox安全漏洞的特定信息，但发言人表示近期内就会公诸于世。
在Firefox发布更新程序的前两天，竞争对手微软公司也发布“紧急”(critical)的IE 浏览器重大更新，一口气修补十种弱点。
除了提供安全补丁程序外，Firefox的最新版程序另包含一些加强功能，包括支持内建英特尔处理器的Mac电脑。苹果今年1月推出第一批采用英特尔芯片的Mac。
